Des Griffin presents his February, 2007 NewsletterDear Friends:

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest where we have been experiencing the same extremes of bad weather as most other States. We had an unusually long period of snow and ice — it lasted almost two weeks. Then we had another two weeks of rain and floods.

Most Americans are breathing a sigh of thankful relief that 2008 is now “history.” To use a Latin term employed  in 1992 by Queen Elizabeth to describe the year in which she celebrated the 40th anniversary of her accession to the British throne — a year during which both a son and a daughter were divorced and during which there was a major fire at Windsor Castle: it was an “annus horribilis” (a horrible year). Without being too facetious, it might be said that what happened in and to the United States during 2008 was perhaps a fitting end to a horrible presidency, one which “plumbed the depths” in so many areas of devious activity. If not the most lawless and nationally-destructive administration in our nation’s history, it certainly ranks among the front-runners for that dubious distinction.

As we enter the new year, it would be naive for anyone to expect any truly significant and uplifting “changes” to take place on the American scene. The relentless forward march of “Big Brother” government” will certainly intensify following the recent defacto nationalization of the banking system. That statement is not to be misconstrued as meaning that the federal government of the United States owns and controls the banking system. Nothing could be further from the truth. The simple truth is that recent events (American taxpayer-financed bailouts for many of the big banks) have only served to centralize ever more control in the hands of the privately-owned “Federal” Reserve, the unconstitutional creation of the infamous international bankers. In the words of Louis T. McFadden, former Chairman of the Banking and Currency Committee, they are “private monopolies which prey upon the people of the United States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign customers... [This] dark crew of financial pirates ... would cut a man’s throat to get a dollar out of his pockets... [They] control us from the top downward, and ... shackle us from the cradle to the grave... The iniquitous Federal Reserve Act [is the] death warrant of American liberty” (The Speeches of Congressman Louis T. McFadden, pgs. 298,299,300).

For many decades the people of the United States have been under a series of relentless attacks in the form of political legislation. These federal programs have manifested themselves in multiple ways and under a broad variety of guises and disguises. They are always heavily camouflaged as valiant efforts by an all-caring government to protect the long-term welfare of the American people from all types of perceived “dangers.” As H.L. Mencken so astutely observed, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” Mencken also observed that, “The urge to ‘save’ humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.”

Unfortunately for America’s true national security, these programs have been well disguised. They have been implemented so smoothly that very few Americans have been able to recognize that most of them are, in fact, part of a master plan. The basic objective is to gradually and systematically take away power and personal responsibility from individual citizens and consolidate all power and authority in the hands of the State — and ultimately into the hands of an international Super State, or new world order.

If the forging of these unbreakable chains of political and financial servitude is allowed to continue for a few more years, once-free and independent individuals will be relegated to the ignominious status of mere serfs on a feudalistic plantation.

As a result of this taxpayer-funded, freedom-destroying federal strategy, recent decades have witnessed a proliferation of dozens of government agencies (“Alphabet agencies”). There are now so many of these monstrosities that even Washington is unable to track all their dubious activities. Of course,  their alleged purpose is to “protect Americans” from a multitude of “hobgoblins.”  A hobgoblin is defined as, “an object of dread and apprehension ... a small grotesque creature that makes trouble for human beings.

Since the 1960s the whole aim of Washington politics has been to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. Since that time numerous allegedly civilization-threatening problems have been highlighted by the powers-that-be in our nation’s Capitol. For purely political purposes, some of the more “usable” crises were built up beyond all reasonableness by massive, false publicity programs. Heavily financed advocacy groups, in league with left-leaning politicians and the bought-and-paid-for Establishment media, swamped the nation at all levels with tidal waves of deceitful propaganda. This served to turn what were relatively minor problems into “crises” of grotesque, world-threatening proportions. Being deprived by the mainstream media of any objective, fact-based analysis of what was really being “sold” to them — and what the end results thereof would probably be — most were duped into accepting the lying propaganda as “gospel truth.”

REPORT FROM IRON MOUNTAIN

Was there a government-sponsored plan to create national “crises” that could be used to manipulate the unwitting American population into accepting plans that would place them in virtual social “straitjackets” in order to achieve total political control? Was there a plan designed to promote the Big Government State as the “savior” of mankind, and thus be instrumental in ultimately creating a new world order? Yes! It’s called Report >From Iron Mountain.

In the early 1960s, people at the highest levels of political  power in Washington sought methods by which their hidden long-term agenda might be furthered. A Special Study Group, made up of 15 acknowledged experts in various fields, was chosen. Ostensibly, using a “different kind of thinking,” their purpose was to devise methods whereby conditions could be created that would result in “permanent peace.” One unnamed participant later revealed the instructions the Group were given, and the results they were assigned to ultimately create. Through an associate, the document, titled Report From Iron Mountain, was published in 1966.

The Group was told there was to be “no agonizing over cultural or religious values. No moral posturing” (foreword, p.xx). “An acceptable surrogate for the war system [would] require the expenditure of resources for completely nonproductive purposes at a level comparable to that of the military expenditures otherwise demanded by the size and complexity of each society. Such a substitute system of apparent ‘waste’ must be of a nature that will permit it to remain independent of the normal supply/demand economy; it must be subject to arbitrary political control...

“[A] credible substitute for war must generate an omnipresent and readily understood fear of personal destruction. This fear must be of a nature and degree to ensure adherence to societal values to the full extent that they are acknowledged to transcend the value of individual human life” (p.83).

“The war system makes the stable government of societies possible. It does this by essentially providing an external necessity for a society to accept political rule. In so doing, it establishes the basis for nationhood and the authority of government to control its constituents...

[A]n effective political substitute for war would require ‘alternate enemies,’ most of which might seem equally farfetched in the context of the current war system” (pgs.64,66).

“Credibility, in fact, lies at the heart of the problem of developing a political substitute for war...” (p.66).

“[A]n effective political substitute for war would require ‘alternate enemies... It may be, for instance, that gross pollution of the environment can eventually replace the possibility of mass destruction by nuclear weapons as the principal threat to the survival of the species. Poisoning of the air ... would seem promising in this respect; it constitutes a threat that can be dealt with only through social organization and political power.”

“However unlikely some of the possible alternates enemies we [mentioned earlier in the Report] may seem, we must emphasize that one must be found, of credible quality and magnitude, if a transition to peace is ever to come about... It is more probable, in our judgment, that such a threat will have to be invented rather than developed from unknown conditions” (pgs.66,67)

Voila! Within months politicians in Washington began to virtually scream about the “deadly nature” of this newly minted threat to our survival as a species. They called for outright “war” against this new menace. TV programs, symposia, and “teach-ins” were organized coast-to-coast to promote the “need” for massive government intervention. Undersecretary of the Interior, Russell T. Train, solemnly declared: “If environmental deterioration is allowed to increase at present rates, [man] won’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell [of surviving].” Congress created the Environmental Protection Agency to deal with this largely created problem. This gave rise to innumerable organizations — both public and “private” — across the nation with the same alleged objective. A number of congressmen and senators made “protecting the environment” a top priority. When he entered Congress in 1977 Al Gore of Tennessee became an “ardent environmentalist.” In time, it became both an obsession and the source of tens of millions of dollars in income. This morphed into the writing of a book, Earth In The Balance, published in 1992 during his first presidential bid. Slightly switching his political mantra, Gore zeroed in on “global warming.” Many proclaimed him “the popular prophet of global warming.”

As well-known education expert and author Samuel Blumenfeld revealed in an 2000 article titled, Gore’s Loose Marbles, “Gore seems to have a very shaky hold on reality. He keeps stretching it, overdoing it, remaking it. His exaggerations, lies, made up stories, suggests he ought to be a novelist, not a politician.

“He is robotic in his loud, assertive slogans which are supposed to pass for serious arguments. The monotonous repetition of the same words and phrases are supposed to leave in the minds of the audience an indelible impression that will make people [like him]. Sort of like Pavlovian conditioning.”

Was there a problem such as “global warming”? Yes! But only on a limited scale. But environmental wackos were wilfully ignorant of this fact. In their fanaticism, they elevated the problem out of all proportion. Gore pontificated that this allegedly man-caused “crisis” represented “the greatest challenge facing our time.” Gore and his friends portrayed their new hobgoblin as “an object of dread and apprehension” ... “a threat that can be dealt with only through social organization and political power.” Especially note those words. That’s where the real action lies. Remember, as H.L. Mencken observed decades ago, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” And, “The urge to ‘save’ humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.”

In his book, How To Be a Successful Tyrant, Larkin Rose writes about the “fear” tactics used by governments to manipulate and ultimately gain control over populations. “Every ‘thing to the feared’ ... with which you terrorize your peasants must be presented as some separate, ‘outside’ evil that only you can save them from. You must present the simple choice between obedience to you and the threat of some unpleasant happening — which does not appear to be of your doing and which you pretend to lament the existence of. In short, you must deceive and scare the peasants into voluntarily giving up their freedom. As Edmund Burke observed, ‘the people never give up their liberties but under some delusion’” ( p.19).

In the United States such onslaughts on public consciousness have been coordinated so seamlessly and promoted so slickly that most people have been duped into swallowing the “official” line, hook, line, and sinker. As Abraham Lincoln observed, “Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail. Without it, nothing can succeed. He who molds public opinion is greater than he who enacts statutes.”

As a result of being terrorized by “doomsday” predictions, most Americans willingly embraced the creation of a vast array of new government agencies that would allegedly “protect” them from all the hobgoblins deliberately created and promoted by the bureaucrats in Washington. In their ignorance and shortsightedness, most were and still are oblivious to the fact that in many areas of their lives they are being manipulated into federally-designed straitjackets. Probably most important of all, the gullible American sheeple have thus unwittingly been instrumental  in a complete rejection and reversal of the Declaration of Independence, one of the most important documents in America’s history. They have allowed the federal government to “erect a multitude of new offices, and send hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat up our substance.” In so many ways, our once-faithful servant in Washington has evolved into a rampaging tyrant which poses as our “protector.”  It is in fact a virtual beast with an insatiable lust for power.

One of the most important questions we can ask at this juncture is: Who will protect the American people from their alleged “protectors”?   We must recognize that, as George Washington, our first president, so rightly observed: “Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

Come to think of it, its tyrannical, beast-like qualities may be a sign of the times. The biblical book of Revelation (chapters 12 and 13) speaks of an end-time power portrayed as “the Beast.” It “deceives them that dwell on the earth.” As a result of this deception, most of the world’s population will “worship the dragon which gave power [authority] to the Beast.” People will “worship the Beast” (as their presumed “savior”) and proclaim: “Who is like the Beast? Who can make war with [or fight against] the Beast?” We are told that its ultimate quest is to replace the Creator and Sustainer of all things and then set up a new world order.  In scripture, the “dragon” is identified as Satan who “deceives the whole world (Revelation 12:9). The Beast is revealed to be a world military power that derives its political power from the various nations of the world — in a combined effort to put together a Luciferian new world order. Its spiritual power comes from Satan, “the God of this world who has blinded the eyes of them that believe not” (II Corinthians 4:4). Politically and humanly speaking, it’s invincible. There is no earthly power capable of “taking it on” and emerging victorious. Spiritually speaking, however, it’s another story. In Psalm 2 we get a thumbnail sketch of what will ultimately take place on the spiritual level: “Why do the heathen [nations] rage and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings [Luciferian occult forces] of the earth set themselves, and the [political] rulers take counsel together against the Lord, and against his anointed [Jesus Christ, Luke 4:18; Acts 4:27], saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure... [Christ] shall break them with a rod of iron, and shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

CAUSE OF ‘GLOBAL WARMING’?

Al Gore and a multitude of other environmental hucksters place the cause of any “global warming” squarely on the shoulders of human beings and their insatiable lust for such things as “gas-guzzling SUVs” and their obsessive overuse of fossils fuels. That “sold” well for a number of years among millions who uncritically swallowed the propaganda line. However, true scientists — free from political agendas and relying exclusively on documental evidence — state that manmade activities have little if anything to do with “global warming.” Hundreds of world renowned scientists declare that there is no proof of manmade global warming. Among these is German Meteorologist Dr. Gerd-Rainer Weber, who attended a “Climate Change” conference in New York last March:  “Most of the extreme views on climate change have little or no scientific basis. The rational basis of extreme views about global warming may be to push for political action on global warming.” Award winning physicist  Dr. Will Happer, professor at the Department of Physics at Princeton, says: “I had the privilege of being fired by Al Gore, since I refused to go along with his alarmism... I was told that science was not going to intrude on policy...”

From his own personal actions it wouldn’t appear that Al Gore — whose 2006 Oscar winning film Inconvenient Truth is advertized on his website as “one man’s fervent crusade to halt global warming’s deadly progress” — is all that interested in “doing his part” to halt its “deadly progress.”  He talks the talk, but doesn’t walk the walk. His gas-guzzling 20-room mansion near Nashville uses twenty times more energy than the average household. A 2007 report by ABC’s Jake Tapper showed that Gore’s property, a mansion and a “pool house,” use $30,000 worth of electricity and natural gas a year. Don’t think that Al will let this inconvenient truth interfere with his socialistic political agenda. After all, when one is raking in untold millions every year, they can — unlike the deluded peasants with whom they are surrounded in society — afford such extravagance  As Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Public Policy so fittingly put it, “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment.” Gore and his political colleagues — with their phony global warming agenda — are hellbent on forcing the deluded American population into a government controlled political straitjacket. Just one of many.

As Edmund Burke observed, “People never give up their liberties but under some delusion.

Des Griffin
